Many women suffer from enlarged labia minora (the inner genital lips). Some may not like the appearance of their large, uneven or thick labia, which can sometimes extend beyond the labia majora. Others may be bothered by labial irritation while conducting normal activities, or may find it difficult to keep the labial area clean. Still others may experience pain during sexual intercourse, sports or other vigorous activities.
Labiaplasty reduces large labia or reshapes uneven labia, improving their appearance and reducing associated discomfort. During the labiaplasty procedure, the surgeon trims excess labial tissue and recreates the edges of the labia with a natural-looking color and shape. The results of labiaplasty can:
- Improve the appearance of the vagina and vulva
- Boost self-confidence
- Reduce discomfort caused by clothes rubbing against the labia
- Eliminate pain caused by large labia during sexual intercourse
- Improve or restore sexual satisfaction that was hampered by large labia
Vaginal rejuvenation serves many functions: it can improve the appearance of the vagina, relieve discomfort, aid in proper hygiene, increase sexual satisfaction, and boost self-confidence. Vaginal rejuvenation procedures may be performed to correct internal or external problems.
- Vaginoplasty (vaginal tightening) tightens muscles in the vagina that have loosened from aging or childbirth.
- Labiaplasty (labia reduction) trims the vaginal lips (labia minora) to remove excess skin and achieve a balance in size.
Vaginal rejuvenation restores the vagina to its youthful appearance and performance by tightening and strengthening the vagina and pelvic floor, as well as making any desired cosmetic adjustments. Other problems such as hernia protrusion or clitoral hood can be corrected at this time. Incisions are placed as inconspicuously as possible and dissolving stitches are used to minimize post-operative scars.
Clitoral Hood Remodeling
Some women may be unhappy with the size, thickness or redundancy of the clitoral hood, causing a protruding appearance and making patients feel self-conscious. Fortunately, any concerns with the clitoral hood can be addressed through a safe and effective surgical procedure performed by a highly skilled and experienced physician.
The clitoral hood procedure may be performed in conjunction with a labiaplasty for a complete enhancement, or may be performed alone for patients with specific clitoral concerns. During the procedure, the clitoris is repositioned and moved back closer to the pubic bone and a small amount of hood skin may be removed without exposing the clitoris. This produces a shorter and narrower clitoral hood with reduced protrusion as well. Many patients are satisfied with the results of this procedure.
The Urogynecology Center has purchased a specialized radiofrequency laser like device that allows for precise surgical procedures in the office. The same energy source allows Dr. Butrick to tighten the facial skin (or even the neck) and lessen wrinkles. This revolutionary skin tightening technology brings a more youthful appearance back to your face without pain or any of the downtime seen with microdermabrasion or others more invasive techniques offered by most physicians. Spider Vein Removal
Spider veins, or telangiectasias, are small, thin, blood vessels visible beneath the skin. They appear most commonly on the face and legs and may look like a series of lines, tree branches, or a spider- or web-like shape with a dark center.
Spider veins are caused by a variety of factors, including heredity, pregnancy (and other conditions that involve changes in hormone levels), weight gain, long periods of standing, and certain medications. They often appear red or blue, and because they form on the face, thighs, calves and ankles, many patients are bothered by the way they look.
Sclerotherapy is the standard treatment for spider veins, as well as varicose veins. During sclerotherapy, a sclerosing solution is injected into the affected veins, causing them to gradually disappear. This procedure lasts about an hour, and is usually performed in the doctor’s office. Two to four sclerotherapy sessions are typically required to fully eliminate the appearance of spider veins.
